The Gamakatsu F31 hook is an aberdeen-type eyed hook, straight shank, relatively strong and with a recessed point to help hold the fish. It is available in sizes ranging from 6 to 18 and in the larger sizes it is excellent for tying black bass flies, such as small baitfish. It is also widely used for stillwater flies, especially small-sized zonkers to be used in a hypothetical "train" of lures in search of fish at various depths. Thanks to its lightness, it is ideal in Beach legering and competitive Surf casting.
